The Philippines

We are going back to the Pacific to experience beautiful diving in the tropical waters. This time, we are headed to the Philippines, underwater, the most bio-diverse area of the world!

Where to begin?
Our first stop will be in the Tubbataha Reefs, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in the Sulu Sea area of the Philippines. This area, only accessible by live aboard from February - June, offers some of the best diving you are ever likely to come across anywhere in the world! Awesome walls, flourishing reefs, big fish, even a couple of wrecks, and remote serenity make a trip to Tubbataha unforgettable.

We’ll be leaving for this area, which is 110 miles offshore, from Puerto Princesa. Then, we will be vacationing on and diving from the tried and true Stella Maris, a live aboard yacht. This professional live aboard operation we have used in the past and found them to have exceptional dive briefings, wonderful service, and delicious food. All part of a fabulous dive adventure!

The adventure continues
Our second stop, the land-based area of Dumaguete, is home to the world renowned Apo Island Reef area. This marine sanctuary holds a multitude of large, prolific corals, sponges, clownfish, giant clams, a whirlwind of many colorful fish, large and small, blacktip/whitetip sharks, dolphins, as well as the small pretty nudibrachs.

The area around our Bahura Resort and Spa offers a mixture of great shore diving and diving from bancas (Philippine boats). The Bahura Resort is a tropical sanctuary, tastefully designed in the heart of a large beachside coconut plantation. The deluxe spacious rooms boast of oversized beds, mini-bar, TV/DVD players, and coffee/tea makers. All is lush and serene, with land-based tours available. Mountains, underground caves, crater lakes, and waterfalls make for wonderful excursions. You can hike, picnic, kayak, and rappel to your hearts content.
