Jeff Bromley
I first became certified to scuba dive in 1986. I was fortunate
that my father "Bill Bromley," was all ready certified
and had decided that he wanted his children to try the sport. I
received my Basic Open Water certification through the West Michigan
Dive Center, and Colin Devries, was my instructor.
In 1987, I got my first opportunity to dive in the ocean. My dad
and I went on a trip to West Palm Beach, in Florida. It was a very
memorable trip and I can still remember all the dives that we did
while we were there. The trip was a going away present for me, because
I had decided to join the US Navy, that same year.
I spent the next six years in the Navy. After graduating from BUD/S
Class 160, I was assigned to SEAL Team 8, in Little Creek, Virginia.
Being in the SEAL Teams afforded me the opportunity to not only
see the world, but to also dive in many different and exciting locations.
In the years following my military service, I have gone on to receive
my Rescue Diver certification and my Divemaster certification. I
am also currently taking several specialty classes through the WMDC.
Assisting with the students has been very enjoyable. However nothing
is more satisfying than watching a students expression when
they breathe underwater for the very first time.
