David Wells
David is married and has two adult children. He lives on West Lake.
He works full time as an attorney, mediator, arbitrator and director
of a medical foundation.
David began diving in 1991 at the urging of his wife, Nancy, who
had at that time been a certified diver for approximately 10 years.
Diving instantly became a passion of his. He never had any long
range goals to become an instructor. First he went through the traditional
levels of recreational diving. David took his Open Water academic
and confined water course from Colin DeVries at West Michigan Dive
Center and was certified after completing the open water training
in Destin, Florida. He then continued with all the other recreational
diving levels offered by PADI at that time - - Advanced Open Water,
Rescue Diver, several specialty certifications and then Master Diver.
Because of his interest in both the technical aspects of diving
and teaching, David decided to turn pro in 1995 and obtained his
Divemaster rating. In 1996 David returned to Destin Florida for
his instructor development course and instructor examination. David
received his Open Water Scuba Instructor certification from PADI
in June 1996. Since that time David has continued his education
and advancement, earning the right to teach various specialty courses
including: Deep Diving, Wreck Diving, Underwater Naturalist, Multi-level
Diving, Enriched Air, Navigation, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Night
and Boat Diving. In 1998, David was certified by PADI as a Master
Scuba Diver Trainer.
In addition to teaching and diving in Michigan, David with his
wife Nancy, enjoy traveling with diving frequently the activity
of choice. In addition to numerous trips to Cozumel and Grand Cayman
some of his destination diving locations include: Saba, Belize,
Turks & Caicos, Bimini, Akumel, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida Keys,
Pensacola, Florida springs and rivers, Munising, North Carolina,
